Northumbria University is happy to announce the Instrumental Scholarships in an effort to draw in the best and brightest students. The scholarship is offered for the 2024–2025 school year.

With the Instrumental Scholarship, you will have the chance to collaborate directly with Northumbria’s music faculty members and hone your performance abilities.

Instrumental Scholarships

  1. Must be a UK/Home student
  2. Should have applied for a Full-Time Undergraduate course starting in September 2024 (Foundation Year students are also eligible)
  3. Northumbria University must be chosen as the firm choice by June 6, 2024
  4. Registration with Student Finance England (SFE), Student Finance Wales (SFW), or Student Finance Northern Ireland (SFNI) is required for payment administration
  5. Scottish students must apply to the Students Award Agency for Scotland (SAAS) for maintenance funding
  6. Eligible courses include all Full-Time Undergraduate courses at the specified campuses (excluding placement year)
  7. Successful students must play a musical instrument at grade 7 or above
  8. Commit to up to four hours a week in rehearsal time and participate in performances during University term time
  9. Mandatory rehearsal commitment and performances, with progress monitoring
  10. Withdrawal from the scholarship is allowed, but any unpaid monies will not be paid
  11. Enroll by September 30, 2024, to receive the scholarship
  12. Payment structure: 25% in November 2024, 25% in February 2025, and 50% in May 2025
  13. Payments dependent on progression to the next year and adherence to scholarship terms and conditions
  14. Outstanding debt with the University will result in the withholding of scholarship payment
  15. Northumbria University reserves the right to withdraw the scheme at any point
  16. The University’s decision is final, and there is no right of appeal.

Acceptable Course or Subjects: Full-Time Undergraduate courses at the Newcastle Upon Tyne campus and Coach Lane campus


Interested applicants passionate about music and possessing instrumental skills at grade 7 or above can apply for the Instrumental Scholarship.
